چکیده

Low crest-factor of excitation and response signals is desirable in transfer function measurements, since this allows the maximization of the signal-to-noise ratios (SNR’s) for given allowable amplitude ranges of the signals. The paper presents a new crest-factor minimization algorithm for periodic signals with prescribed power spectrum. The algorithm is based on approximation of the nondifferentiable Chebyshev (minimax) norm by Z,,-norms with increasing values of p , and the calculations are accelerated by using FFT’s. Several signals related by linear systems can also be compressed simultaneously. The resulting crest-factors are significantly better than those provided by earlier methods. Moreover, it is shown that the peak value of a signal can be further decreased by allowing some extra energy at additional frequencies. Keywords-Crest-factor, multisine, optimal excitation.

Relative Chebyshev Centers in Hilbert Space

We characterize inner product spaces in terms of the relationship between the relative Chebyshev center of a set and the absolute Cheby-shev center of an associated set. A consequence of the characterization is that an existing nite algorithm can be adapted to calculate the center of a nite set relative to a nite dimensional aane space. We also discuss the case where the constraint set is nonli...

A Model for Anisotropic Re ection

A reeection and refraction model for anisotropic surfaces is introduced. The anisotropy is simulated by small cylinders (added or subtracted) distributed on the anisotropic surface. Diierent levels of anisotropy are achieved by varying the distance between each cylinder and/or rising the cylinders more or less from the surface. Multidirectional anisotropy is modelled by orienting groups of cyli...

Two issues in using mixtures of polynomials for inference in hybrid Bayesian networks

We discuss two issues in using mixtures of polynomials (MOPs) for inference in hy-brid Bayesian networks. MOPs were proposed by Shenoy and West for mitigating theproblem of integration in inference in hybrid Bayesian networks. First, in definingMOP for multi-dimensional functions, one requirement is that the pieces where thepolynomials are defined are hypercubes. In this pap...

Constrained Multisine Inputs for Plant-friendly Identification of Chemical Processes

This paper considers the use of constrained minimum crest factor multisine signals as inputs for plant-friendly identification testing of chemical process systems. The approach developed in this paper greatly increases their effectiveness in a process control setting by enabling the user to simultaneously specify important frequency and time-domain characteristics of these signals. Two problem ...

Interpolation and Almost Interpolation by Weak Chebyshev Spaces

Some new results on univariate interpolation by weak Cheby-shev spaces, using conditions of Schoenberg-Whitney type and the concept of almost interpolation sets, are given. x1. Introduction Let U denote a nite-dimensional subspace of real-valued functions deened on some set K. We are interested in describing those conngurations T = dimU jT = s: T is called an interpolation set (I-set) w.r.t. U....
